Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative/clerical support and oversight to the Procedure Room department. You will play a vital role with the O.R. Management team in running daily schedule.

Responsibilities for this position include:
• Collaborate with the head nurse to oversee day to day operations in the Procedure room
• Check in scheduled surgery patients, make sure patients are arriving to Procedure Room with both Surgical and Anesthesia consent and documented if required documents are completed or need to be filled out; also notifying responsible parties if it's incomplete.
• Answer incoming calls in the Procedure Room:
• Notify support services such as IT, Stretcher Control, Environmental etc. as needed/requested.
• Act as liaison between OR, physicians, clinic, anesthesia, Day Surgery and other department to ensure positive outcomes in patient care.
• With directive from DON/ADN use of EMR (Epic) to:
• Confirm with nursing unit patient is anticipating to come down for surgery and have him prepared to be picked up for procedure; or dropped off after procedure.
• Confirming if patient has any special needs (Vent, Respiratory, and Contact Isolation etc.)
before being sent to operating room.
• Contact other nursing areas with directive from R.N. patients going to PACU or returning to SICU.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling, and three (3) years of full-time experience in medically-oriented health care and medical support systems environment, two (2) years of which included experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in such occupations as physical, occupational, inhalation, speech and audiology therapy or as Medical/Laboratory Technologist, Microbiologist (various specialties), Chemist (biochemist), Radiation and X-Ray Technician or three (3) years of responsible level experience in business management systems or general administration including two (2) years in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
2. A Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in the disciplines listed in (1), and two (2) years of full-time experience as listed in (1), plus one (1) year experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity in occupations as listed in (1); or,
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
