General Description of Duties:

Working in concert with district and building administration, establish an efficient and effective transportation program for students attending the Mentor Exempted Village School District and for other students required to be transported in compliance with federal and state rules and regulations.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Qualities to Perform Essential Functions:
  • High school diploma with preference given to an individual holding a bachelor's degree or acceptable combination of training and experience.
  • Previous success in the design and management of a school district transportation program, or other closely related experience.
  • Must be insurable under the guidelines of the fleet insurance policy as approved by the Mentor Exempted Village Board of Education.
  • Assist in the recruitment, screening, training, and evaluating of transportation service employees.
  • Possess a strong background in effectively supervising personnel.
  • Possess an understanding of the supportive role of transportation to the education program.
  • Ability to accept direction from administration and demonstrate ability to supervise and train district personnel for Transportation Department service.
  • Ability to work with staff, parents, and the public in a positive and cordial manner.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to convert ideas into practice.
  • Must hold and maintain a Class B CDL license with SP endorsement as issued by the State of Ohio.
