What You'll Do as a Customer Service Assistant 2:

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Suspensions & Licensing/ALS & Points Processing

Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43223

This position is currently remote (work from home) but can be subject to change to regular, in-office work.

Greet & respond to in-person, telephone &/or written inquiries in a professional, courteous, friendly, respectful, & timely manner to ensure positive internal/external customer service; Listen carefully & ask appropriate follow-up questions to verify understanding; Provide a complete, knowledgeable, accurate, precise response immediately or provide a firm commitment as to when a response will be provided; Follow-up to ensure all of the customer's questions &/or concerns have been thoroughly answered; Research, evaluate, process & make required decisions in order to respond to telephone &/or written inquiries & correspondence received from courts, attorneys, general public, Attorney General's Office, Director's Office, Law Enforcement, Registrar's Office, Bureau of Motor Vehicles legal counsel/hearing officers, insurance companies, various businesses & other in & out of state agencies pertaining to public records, registries, abstracts, licenses, reinstatement requirements, suspensions & cancellations of driving & registration privileges; Utilize various reports & operate computer to update records & case information using various Ohio Department of Public Safety & Bureau of Motor Vehicles (ODPS/BMV) systems; Receive & independently respond to telephone & e-mail inquiries, send & receive callback requests; Maintain production to ensure continuity of work flow & verify accuracy of information.

Respond to inquiries regarding ODPS/BMV procedures & legislation in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code & Federal Legislation; Compile & provide statistical data for reports to internal & external customers; Maintain files, retain & forward documents, compose letters to in & out of state agencies; Assist other units throughout Suspensions & Licensing Services when needed; Act as unit liaison with other sections throughout the ODPS/BMV & provide training/cross training to others.

Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., attend meetings, provide training/cross training to others, special projects, operate copy/fax machine, microfilm copier, open mail, file, & deliver messages/paperwork/mail & assist other units during backlog situations, etc.).

Qualifications
9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures; 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service that included techniques for handling difficult people; 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in typing, keyboarding, data entry or word processing; 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer.
