Pay Range

$113,790 - $141,276 Annually at the 320.1 level
$137,640 - $170,904 Annually at the 320.2 level

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

Job Description

We have an opening for a Cyber Security Analyst to provide advanced cyber and technical support for multiple unclassified and classified networks, standalone systems, security systems, user accounts and access, and implementation of security controls. You will serve as an Organizational Information Systems Security Officer (OISSO), managing complex security plans and component configurations. You will complete audit self-assessments and computer security projects, while interacting regularly with other team members, customers, management, and sponsors to solve a variety of complex cyber problems in a timely manner. This position is in the Computing Directorate's Information Technology Solutions (ITSD) Division matrixed to the Livermore Information Technology Program.

This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.

This position will be filled at eitherlevel based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

You will
  • Author comprehensive Federal Information System Management Act (FISMA) document packages while interacting with several government agencies.
  • Perform advanced computer security tasks such as vulnerability remediation, audit of computer logs, and creation of documentation on policies, procedures, test plans, and risk analysis evaluations.
  • Inspect information systems to verify compliance and work closely with system administrators to maintain security and accreditation status.
  • Manage account authorization processes and perform approvals for cyber-related procurements.
  • Collaborate with customers in the design of their on-premises or cloud computing environment and security management processes.
  • Conduct cyber security assessments to document the degree of compliance with LLNL/DOE policies and industry best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with senior managers concerning cyber-related events, requirements, projects, and changes.
  • Promote and support plans to promote diversity, equity and inclusion within the program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
  • Extensive experience in information security, as an Information Systems Security Officer, or an equivalent role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and technical expertise with cyber-related tools for auditing, compliance verification, vulnerability testing, and continuous system monitoring.
  • Experience improving efficiencies through the implementation of process improvements or workflow automation.
  • Experience setting priorities and solving complex problems in a fast-paced, customer-focused team environment.
  • High level technical contributor or leader with expertise in system administration, computer networking, infrastructure architecture, cyber security, operations security, or another information technology field.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to collaborate in a team environment and document, present and explain technical information.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects, tasks, and priorities for customers and stakeholders under general supervision.

Additional qualifications at the 320.2 level
  • Extensive experience developing and presenting cyber or IT solutions to a senior management team.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects, tasks, and priorities for customers and stakeholders with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced knowledge of and technical expertise with cyber-related tools for continuous monitoring such as Splunk, STIG/SCAP, and Tenable.

Qualifications We Desire
  • Professional computer certification (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISA, CISM, CCSP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of business operations such as finance, budget, supply chain, facility management, security, and human resource management.
  • Knowledge of workflow automation using tools (e.g., ServiceNow).

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
