Vulcan is seeking a Data Analyst to join our team in Birmingham, AL. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Tableau solutions that meet Vulcan's needs. The Data Analyst will collaborate with our internal stakeholders, project managers, and fellow team members to ensure the solutions meet their business requirements and expectations.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop Tableau dashboards, reports, and visualizations based on business requirements and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate requirements into Tableau solutions.
  • Work with project managers and stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Connect to and wrangle data from various sources to Tableau.
  • Create and manage active directory groups, users, workbooks, projects, data sources, data connections, and subscriptions.
  • Support and manage content migration between environments.
  • Provide appropriate training and support to business suers on the use of Tableau or similar platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Tableau solutions.
  • Optimize Tableau performance by analyzing and tuning dashboards and data sources.
  • Stay current with Tableau features and functionality to ensure we are using the most current tools available.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation related to Tableau solutions and platform governance.
  • Participate in peer reviews of development/coding, and provide feedback to other developers.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices, standards, and guidelines for Vulcan's Tableau development.
  • Assist in forming and executing a plan to migrate from On-Prem solutions to SaaS


Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. A graduate degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of analytical-related work experience with a proven track record of successfully interpreting business needs and applying technology solutions to solve business problems.
  • Tableau Certification a plus
  • Solid knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools such as Tableau, MS Power BI, Oracle Analytics Cloud, and MS Query.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets.
  • Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Familiarity with other BI tools, such as Oracle Analytics Cloud or Power BI, is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
