POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data Analyst is accountable for evaluating and responding to requests for data collection, manipulation, tabulation, and analysis. Responsibilities include designing, collecting, distributing, and providing preliminary analysis and review of data (including data integrity, validity, trend analysis, etc.). Presents or assists others with effective presentation of data collected for research, educational, productivity or other purposes to facilitate decision making regarding potential further actions needed. Educates end users to ensure adequate understanding of outcomes and deliverables. Employs a full range of analytical tools and methodologies to transform data into useful, decision-supporting information for metrics that impact research, quality improvement projects, departmental-specific, institute-specific, and hospital wide outcomes.

Hours: Full Time, Day Shift, 40 Hours Per Week

Monday-Friday-8am-5pm, Hybrid work schedule

Location: St. Petersburg, FL

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Applies the appropriate analytic skills needed for data collection, data management, statistical analyses and reports for improvement projects, quality initiatives and special requests as deemed appropriate by leadership so data are transformed into useful, decision making information
  2. Reviews data to identify variability in processes and/or best practices throughout the facility and shares information with leadership so that improvement actions can be taken
  3. Assists in investigating and troubleshooting data inconsistencies to assure data accuracy, integrity, validity and reliability so that current state systems are understood and recommendations for improvements in data systems can be made
  4. Develops and/or implements processes and procedures for efficient and accurate data access and analysis so that consistent, reliable and accurate processes are followed assuring that data are available for decision making and external data submissions
  5. Teaches enhanced data investigational skills so that the analytic skills needed to understand and display outcomes are taught to qualified employees who are then able to independently apply these skills

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Epidemiology, Statistics, Business or related field
  • 2 years experience in the health care or medical industry with focus on data analysis
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Proficient in use of statistical analysis software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA or R
  • Expertise in managing complex metrics, dashboards, and scorecards
  • Ability to translate data into useable information for professional and lay audiences
