Our larger financial customer in the Pittsburgh area is hiring talented data analytics professionals to join their growing team. The qualified candidate will be experienced in data cleaning and preparation, data modeling, and building visualizations to tell a story. The incumbent will partner with data engineering teams, compliance engineering, application owners, and payments architecture groups to speed up analytics as it relates to fraud prevention work. The outcomes will ensure that fraud cases are allocates appropriately and that there are feedback loops to allow the business to consume this information and improve business practices more efficiently.

Responsibilities Include:

1. Data Collection and Cleaning:
o Collect data from various sources, including internal databases, and external APIs
o Ensure data quality by cleaning and preprocessing raw data to remove inconsistencies, missing values, and errors.
2. Data Modeling and Analysis:
o Develop and implement data models to extract meaningful insights from large datasets.
o Apply statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to analyze data and identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
o Collaborate with data engineering teams to optimize data pipelines and improve data processing efficiency.
3. Data Visualization and Reporting:
o Create visualizations (such as charts, graphs, and dashboards) to communicate data findings effectively.
o Use tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Python libraries for data visualization.
4. Fraud Prevention and Risk Management:
o Work closely with fraud prevention teams to identify suspicious activities and patterns.
o Develop and implement strategies to detect and prevent fraudulent transactions.
o Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
5. Feedback Loops and Process Improvement:
o Establish feedback loops to continuously improve fraud prevention processes.
o Analyze the effectiveness of existing business practices and propose enhancements.
o Provide actionable recommendations based on data insights to enhance overall efficiency.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Partner with data engineering teams, compliance engineering, application owners, and payments architecture groups.
o Communicate effectively with different stakeholders to align data analytics efforts with business goals.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience with writing complex SQL queries, creating DB views, stored procedures on MS SQL server.
Ability to come up with business use cases based on requirements
Experience with data cleaning and preparation
Data visualization experience

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with either java/python
Experience with any ETL tool
Experience with snowflake
Experience with data exploration and modeling
