JOB TITLE: Data Engineer

LOCATION: 11000 Optum Circle, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 (Telecommuting available from anywhere in the U.S.)

DUTIES: Administer, test, and implement computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Duties include: Work with Electronic Medical Records, Billing, and other data types from health care provider clients; Evaluate sources against the existing standard and create a new standard to be applied; Work with incoming data, identify locations of data elements of interest, put together specifications, and implement the corresponding ETL to transform the incoming data into standardized data warehouse; Conduct gap analysis to compare the client's data structure and content to that of the standard expected for that EMR, billing, or adjudicated claims data source and communicate findings to the client; Evaluate the client's data to locate data elements of interest to our application; Complex cases involve reconciliation of data in multiple locations, clever ways of imputing information from sub-par data, and de-duplication strategies; Document findings as specifications and implement the corresponding ETL; Manage ETL validation through both internal and client testing; Implement adjustments to code as necessary; Map client local terminologies to Optum Analytics standard concepts; Perform implementation validation and support client UAT issue resolution; Work collaboratively with other team members during implementation; Investigate data related questions raised by both internal and external clients; Actively participate in the maintenance and improvement of the overall data process; and Contribute knowledge to ongoing team documentation for the benefit of future use. Telecommuting available from anywhere in the U.S.

REQUIREMENTS: Employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Health Informatics, Information Technology or a related field and completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis or one year of experience in the job offered or a related computer occupation. Position requires the following:

• Data analytics;
• Data analysis languages: SQL, Hive SQL, or Postgres;
• Implementing or supporting solutions on AWS Cloud platform;
• Coding in Scala and Spark;
• Microsoft Excel and PPT;
• Jenkins;
• GitHub; and
• Big Data concepts.

RATE OF PAY: $82,222 - $93,841 / per year
