The Senior Data Analyst/ Principal Data Engineer will be responsible for identifying key data sources and developing organization wide reports in support of transformation and change management initiatives. This individual must possess the ability to tell the story across multiple services through the utilization of key internal and external data sets. The successful candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with various business and data analytics teams, have proven data engineering and data analysis experience, and the ability to manage multiple competing projects at one time.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for detailed and continuous data analysis, identifying problems and opportunities, and provide data driven solutions
  • Research, interpret, and analyze diverse and complex data sets
  • Implement analytic activities to support decision-making across multiple lines of business
  • Implement process improvement initiatives and automation for efficiency where appropriate
  • Produce analytical outputs, create dashboards and executive summaries and descriptive analytics reports for Senior Leadership
  • Collaborate with different lines of business and business functions, to understand their analytic needs
  • Make the connection between various data sets across Enterprise Information Security to identify organizational gaps
  • Design, develop and transform the data to support visual analytics
  • Act as consultant to propose business solutions, and communicate results of analytics
  • Own the creation of transformation CIO dashboards and change management reports
  • Tell the story across multiple data sets and make the necessary connections to drive change
  • Participate in the development of the team's business strategy and the technical project delivery/roadmap
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and business needs and develop dashboards and data visualizations
  • Translate highly complex data problems and observations in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Present analysis clearly and consistently using various BI tools
  • Evaluate gaps in processes and opportunities for data automation
  • Stay current on available software and analytical environments and influence senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches

Required Qualifications:

  • BA, BS in relevant field (Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Business, Statistics, Engineering, or Finance) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis and/or data engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in data warehousing , data modeling with large data sets
  • 3+ years of experience in data manipulation and data transformation and proficiency in at least SQL or Python
  • 3+ years of experience in visualization tools such Python Dash, Tableau, R-shiny, PowerBI
  • 3+ years of experience working with technical and business professionals in a matrix management environment
  • Proficient in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse and complex data, and assessing data quality
  • Proven effective communication skills, able to work with stakeholders from multiple levels and disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to create and tell the story through data and present at executive levels
  • Proven excellent analytical reporting skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or similar graduate level degree
  • Experience or knowledge of cloud-based data analytics e.g. (AWS, Azure, Snowflake)
  • Experience in tools such as Databricks, Airflow, GitHub actions, Azure cloud environment
  • Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a dynamic business environment
  • Experience working with data scientists and project managers as part of a change management/ transformation program
  • Experience in prioritizing work on multiple complex assignments with ongoing deadlines
  • Experience working in a cybersecurity environment and analyzing security data
  • Adaptable and keen to learn new technology/ programming language

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
