Data Engineer, Analytics \u0026 Data Management

The Advertising Analytics & Data Management team is looking for a Data Engineer who is passionate about data and the insights that large amounts of data can provide, experienced in designing and building data marts, and enjoys working with PB-scale data. The role will work with a team of business and technical professionals to lay down scalable data architecture for ingesting large amounts of structured and unstructured datasets, building views that can be easily consumed by customers, and partnering with stakeholders to drive data-based business decisions.
The ideal candidate will possess both a data engineering background and a strong business acumen that enables them to think strategically. They will experience a wide range of problem solving situations, requiring extensive use of data collection and analysis techniques such as data mining and machine learning.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will work with business leaders, engineers, and stakeholders across Sales, Finance, Marketing and Service teams. You will:
- Develop and improve the current data architecture using AWS Redshift, AWS S3, AWS Aurora (Postgres) and Hadoop/EMR
- Improve upon the data ingestion models, ETL jobs, and alarming to maintain data integrity and data availability
- Stay up-to-date with advances in data persistence and big data technologies and run pilots to design the data architecture to scale with the increased datasets of advertiser experience
- Partner with stakeholders to build and verify hypothesis to improve business performance
- Manage and support business critical reports and reporting tools to monitor KPIs
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Experience with one or more query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala)
- Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
- Experience with any ETL tool like, Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage, etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $91,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
