DCF Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist - CWS Miami
This VISTA position is part of a larger state-wide refugee services project: The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Refugee Services Program is partnering with the Corporation for National and Community Service to increase services to refugees living in Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, Clearwater, Tallahassee, Miami-Dade, and Orlando by building capacity and coordinating activities and services between eight (8) participating non-profit organizations. As the project Sponsor, DCF Refugee Services oversees this VISTA project. DCF also manages the project grant and provides overall project coordination. The project will engage several VISTA members across eight (8) sites providing refugee services. These VISTAs serve on a variety of projects to help resettled refugees achieve economic self-sufficiency and community integration. This coordinated effort will help these organizations to provide increased services to refugees who are making the difficult transition of adjusting to life in America. There is a VISTA Living Allowance for this specific position, plus access to additional VISTA benefits.
Member Duties : The Florida Dept. of Children and Families (DCF) sponsored VISTA Member serving in the role of Volunteer and Community Engagement Specialist will help build the nonprofit capacity of Church World Service (CWS) Miami to support refugees resettling into the community and working toward self-sufficiency. The goal is to assist CWS by engaging volunteers and community support. The VISTA Member will (1) build capacity in the volunteer program and help coordinate volunteers on various projects and events; (2) assist efforts to leverage community engagement, partnerships, and resources to increase awareness and support for refugee services; and (3) work to enhance program development and service delivery and to help volunteers, community partners, and other stakeholders better understand how to identify client-needs and to help clients access appropriate services. There is a VISTA Living Allowance for this specific position, plus access to additional VISTA benefits.
