Responsibilities

This position supports fundraising at WFSU by managing correspondence, processing payments, assisting in research to enhance the donor base, and event planning and execution. Reports directly to the Membership Manager but will work regularly across the Development Department. In this role, you will:
  • Manage processes for membership, major gifts, and underwriting including donations, payment reminder notices, coordinating agreements, and invoices. Process monthly recurring payments. Develop specific correspondence related to billing, contributions and/or the tax-deductible nature of a particular gift. Assist development with generating and updating active sponsor and donor lists.
  • Maintain Allegiance and Filemaker accounts. Follow best practices for protecting private information.
  • Assist the Underwriting and Major Gift department with activities including updating sponsor and member records, processing billing and donations, and prospect research. Assist Major Gift Department with solicitation calendar and giving plans. Track donors and prospects using our donor database and wealth screening tools. Coordinate and organize development events by providing support in planning, set up/clean up, and contact.
  • Manages correspondence and contact with members and major donors, including monthly membership renewals, weekly thank yous, and premium and benefit distribution. Ensures questions and comments regarding billing, membership, programming, Passport and technical issues are promptly resolved. Donor and viewer communication includes phone calls, emails, letters and in person meetings. Organizes the research and tracking of data on contacts and recommends strategies to help enhance member services and communications. Manages inventory of print supplies and premiums.
  • Process pledges and payments from various sources, including: bank lock box, online donations, credit cards, EFTs, payroll deductions, FSU Foundation, car donations, and matching gifts. Keep accurate and timely records of all payments processed and follows proper cash handling procedures. Keep department informed of issues related to payments. Troubleshoot and resolves issues that arise with WFSU's donor database.
  • Coordinates premium and program information and data for FM and TV pledge drives in collaboration with established vendors.
  • Produces and distributes industry reports for each drive. Manages volunteers and volunteer activities for the radio pledge drives.
  • Coordinates with other membership staff to provide training and support to pledge drive volunteers. Coordinates meals and assists with daily schedule. Is able to train on-air volunteer announcers in speaking and message delivery. Is prepared to go on-air to deliver pledge drive messaging when necessary. Maintains the transaction bin during pledge drives.
  • Serves as a backup to other Membership Department staff when they are unavailable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

  • Customer service experience, with the ability to think critically and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously with strong collaboration skills.
  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products and able to learn new applicable computer applications.
  • Ability to learn emerging technologies.
  • Non-profit administrative experience.
  • Fundraising experience.
