A senior web copywriter delivers compelling copy to guide successful user experiences across one or more products and acts as the subject matter expert across different user experiences within these products. As a senior copywriter, you will lead the development of user-focused copy for our digital products.

You will be responsible for crafting clear, concise and compelling copy that enhances usability, accessibility and overall user experience. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers and researchers to understand user needs and translate complex concepts into user-friendly language. You must have a passion for storytelling, a deep understanding of user-centered design principles and a track record of delivering exceptional copywriting that drives user engagement and satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with product, designers, business stakeholders, marketers, project managers, analytics and developers to understand requirements
  • Attends kickoff sessions, asks key questions, takes an active role in identifying opportunities and crafts solutions
  • Develops copy based on analytics, user research, marketing goals and best practices
  • Manages timelines and priorities to ensure timely delivery
  • Contributes to product flows, education materials, product names, navigational nomenclature, terminology, taxonomies and other content
  • Contributes to process improvements
  • Works closely with content strategist to support current content strategy
  • Supports design and research by providing content for user testing, as needed
  • Identifies and shares potential user interface issues with key stakeholders
  • Is a steward of brand and style guidelines, while ensuring content consistency and accuracy
  • Is a copy and content evangelist; consistently communicates to design, development, product and the business the central role content plays in creating better user experiences and outcomes
  • Advocates for data-driven decision-making and closely partners with the Data & Analytics and User Research teams
  • Partners closely with the SEO team and understands best practices for optimization
  • Contributes to Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing to make sure we're following best digital practices
  • Provides training to colleagues and new hires as needed
  • Stays abreast of latest relevant technology, such as AI writing and editing tools

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experienced in the design process, copy development and editing, content strategy, and adhering to style and brand guidelines
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate feedback to UX/UI designers and partner with them to forge solutions
  • Proven ability to receive and incorporate feedback constructively, while also contributing ideas and insights to the design process
  • Demonstrated consideration and advocation for the best end-to-end user experience (as a whole and in detail)
  • Demonstrated solid presentation and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Human-computer interaction or related field
  • Expert level understanding of UX design principles, usability best practices, accessibility guidelines and agile development methodologies
  • Proven ability to show courage to take action and ask questions
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
