Job Description
NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking candidates with experience in the housing and healthcare sector who have demonstrated strategic leadership skills, exceptional communication and organization ability, and who have driven projects to successful completion. The Director of Behavioral Health Housing will work both independently and as a collaborative partner in a fast-paced environment.
Under the direction of the Senior Advisor for Behavioral Health Policy and Communications, the Residence Housing Director will be responsible for implementing a new Behavioral Health Housing program. This position will be responsible for bringing the program to fruition through strategic planning and high-level execution.
The Director of Behavioral Health Housing will lead all aspects of the program, including program administrative and clinical operations, compliance with local, state and federal regulations, collaboration with partnering agencies, staff development, program expansion, strategic partnerships, external communications, program evaluation and quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Masters Degree in Public Administration, Public Health, Health Care Specialization, Social Work, Psychology or a related field; and,
Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in hospital or regulatory agency administration, with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of mental health delivery services, or,
2. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, manage, and implement a new Behavioral Health Housing program at NYC Health + Hospitals. This includes managing interdisciplinary work groups related to Behavioral Health care delivery and housing. This will also include managing multiple project timelines across various stakeholders at multiple levels including executive staff.
- Manage executive-level engagement on behavioral health housing work. Plan, coordinate, and facility executive-level meetings and manage time effectively. Identify and escalate key issues for executive input and consideration as the program evolves.
- Manage internal and external relationship to design and implement the program. Collaborate with executive and staff-level team members in the Office of Behavioral Health, Finance, Government Affairs, Housing for Health and at the facilities to ensure alignment with strategic and operational priorities.
- Consult, collaborate and guide team to develop policies, procedures and processes
- Collaborate with central office on program goals and timelines
- Ensure clinical practices comply with city, state, and federal regulations
- Collaborate with other organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to coordinate services and advocate for the Behavioral Health Housing program
- Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to raise awareness about the Behavioral Health Housing program
- Serve as a liaison between the program, the community, and other healthcare providers.
- Represent the office in internal and external meetings on housing as it relates to behavioral health
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Department Preferences
- Knowledge of fundamentals of hospital organization, administration and standards, regulations and laws applicable to hospital operations.
- Knowledge of principles of business and personnel administration, management functions and support service functions and ability to direct and supervise personnel.
- Experience with crisis work, serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use.
- Familiarity with high-risk patients and cultural sensitivity in community settings.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in the clinical environment
- Demonstrated teamwork and communication skills
- Experience planning, developing and monitoring programs, systems and/or procedures in support of administrative management initiatives, five years of which must have been in a responsible managerial or supervisory responsibility.
