Description

  • Direct and supervise in the areas of routing/planning, budget/finance/procurement, technology, and fieldtrips and ensure compliance with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the assigned area.
  • Partner with the executive director to provide strategic and tactical leadership for district wide operations and initiatives; development and implementation of departmental communication strategy.
  • Supervise the district's routing and planning services that support all district programs, including field trips in an equitable manner for all students.
  • Ongoing collaboration with all internal district departments regarding their transportation needs and provide solutions which include scope, timing, and cost of services.
  • Approve and lead the development and implementation of annual operational budget to meet departmental and district goals including development of cost metrics and financial models .
  • Manage departmental procurement processes in accordance with federal, state, and local district guidelines.
  • Govern the collection and reporting of operational data as required by state and local requirements which includes student ridership, on time performance, and operational costs including the TEA Route Services Report and Operations Report.
  • Oversee the operation of all departmental data information systems and processes including making recommendations for improvements or opportunities; development and implementation of new technology solutions and applications.
  • Partner with departmental leadership team to develop, implement, and monitor key department KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Authorize time and attendance for routing, special programs, and field trip managers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Office: When performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; communicate verbally and electronically; stand; move throughout the building; use objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl; climb; balance and drive. Occasionally required to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasionally required to work prolonged and

irregular hours.

Work Environment:

Office: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. There is minimal exposure to environmental conditions such as outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, fumes, air borne particles, etc.

Travel Requirements:

Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university required
  • Five (5) years experience in school transportation operations, preferably in a K-12 environment required
  • Three to five years experience as a school bus driver required
  • Valid Texas Commercial Driver's
  • License (Class A or B) with Passenger (P) and School (S) endorsements preferred
  • Texas School Bus Driver Certification preferred
  • Certification with Texas Association for Pupil Transportation preffered
  • Ability to manage the district's transportation software programs, including routing and field trips
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel
  • Ability to provide transformational leadership in a start-up transportation environment
  • Ability to operate school bus and manage students
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
