Who is SSP?

Senior Aerospace SSP, specializes in designing, manufacturing, and qualifying complex ducting systems for aerospace applications. Since its humble roots in 1945, the campus has now expanded to include a 59,000 sq. ft high-volume production facility, in addition to its legacy 131,000 ft2 main buildings which combined, accommodate over 500 employees. Vertically integrated with its own foundry, fabrication shop, and ISO certified engineering lab, Senior Aerospace SSP acquired by Senior PLC in 1995 and has continued its expansion into new programs and technologies.

What does the job involve?

Summary:The Director of Materials Management will be a pivotal leadership role, responsible for overseeing all aspects of materials management, including inventory, material flow, storage, transportation logistics and MRP system integrity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:
  • Develop and execute a materials management strategy aligned with the company's growth and operational objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure material requirements are met for production schedules.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient inventory system, optimizing stock levels and turnover while ensuring material availability.
  • Manage transportation logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective material deliveries.
  • Oversee warehousing operations, ensuring optimal space utilization and material handling.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the materials management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage the materials budget, ensuring cost controls and financial efficiency.
  • Take ownership of SSP Material Data Integrity on ERP system and Physical Location of material at SSP and Outside processing locations.
  • Partner with of SSP Tooling management in collaboration with Operations leadership.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions for materials management challenges.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in materials management, operations management or supply chain roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Aerospace industry experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in materials management software and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Skills:
  • Language:Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.Must have strong customer service skills with a proven track record of building customer relationships.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, contracts, professional journals, technical procedures, spreadsheets, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Mathematical Ability: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Other Abilities: Must be able to provide direction to a team. Must be able to develop and mentor. Must be able to work with all levels/personalities of customer and internal organization. Must be able to travel as required.
