We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Drilling Engineering Specialist in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Delaware Basin Business Unit based in Houston, TX.

The perfect candidate for this position will be responsible for providing data management, contract management, material reconciliation, and cost control support in a safe, legal, environmentally responsible and effective manner to the Drilling Department. The candidate will also be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Acts as the primary resource for Data Quality within Open Wells
  • Builds the Open Wells Wellbore schematic (pre-drill and final)
  • Gathers, compiles, organizes and performs initial analysis of pertinent well data and/or project costs utilized in planning, design, analysis, benchmarking and performance evaluation of capital drilling projects
  • Acquires and compiles pertinent technical data from vendors and engineers and writes initial draft of technical specifications as required
  • Develops, maintains and provides computer support for the Department as well as various computer programs/databases utilized to gather, store and manipulate various sources of drilling well data and information.
  • Coordinates daily benchmarking updates and posts accordingly
  • Maintains drilling files, creating new files. Submits completed well files to Central Filing
  • Prepares and submits applicable Federal and State government forms and letters, as required, for well permitting and reporting in a timely manner
  • Compiles end of well reports in a timely manner upon completion of project
  • Assists engineers with analysis and post-well project evaluations
  • Prepares presentation materials for department
  • Coordinates the maintenance of remote rig PC hardware
  • Assists with audit requests from Accounting
  • Assists in resolving discrepancies between the field estimate and the actual project cost
  • Assists with Department material reconciliation
  • Develops, maintains and provides support for material purchase order system


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • High school education with 5+ years experience in drilling
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work at all levels within the organization, from management to DSM's
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work load
  • Good working relationship with accounting and asset team personnel
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Willingness to learn job skills outside of technologist duties
  • Good analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to communicate and listen
  • Team player
  • Ability to research and analyze cost control mechanisms
  • Self-starter
  • Willing to work overtime, as required
  • Dependable


Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in any discipline or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience
