Description: Job Summary:

This executive will lead, design, and direct equity, inclusion, and diversity systems alignment across the organization, work in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, and oversee EID activities at multiple levels to ensure embedding of equity-centered principles and approaches. To actualize this belief, the incumbent will facilitate and drive the development of agreed upon equity-centered approaches, where appropriate, to improve access, experiences and outcomes in all that we do. The incumbent will act in a coordinating and facilitating capacity to align the organizational approach to advancing our EID strategy using measurable and quantifiable methods, continuously identifying internal and external effective & next practices and lead the rapid transfer of information to improve internal experiences and outcomes. The individual will also act in a key role in contributing to KP-s EID brand and reputation. External engagements will include benchmarking, effective practice exchanges, and potential partnerships with commercial customers, community and government agencies to learn from peers and educate audiences on the importance of centering equity in the achievement of our mission to provide high quality care that is affordable and improves the lives or our workforce, members, and the communities we serve.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leads the continual evolution of EID scope and services, including the development and implementation of strategic initiatives management, project execution, process improvement, change management, program redesign, program transformation and measurement capabilities across the enterprise.
  • Leads visible and complex improvement projects to identify and resolve EID issues of strategic importance. Ensures successful program wide implementation of strategic initiatives and measures effectiveness and impact of initiatives, especially for health equity and workforce equity.
  • Stands up a high performing EID consulting function to thought partner with leaders and build organizational capacity and capabilities in embedding equity and inclusion across organizational areas.
  • Makes independent decisions considering the degree of impact on business units and provides guidance on selecting the best team members for highly complex projects. Intentionally builds relationships across the organization to gain buy-in and move initiatives forward.
  • Manages, develops, and cares for team members (e.g., coaching and mentoring) to increase their overall effectiveness, well-being, and job satisfaction.
  • Utilizes progressive and timely business practices to intake, track, complete, and report out on key initiatives and engagements. Has ultimate responsibility for ensuring internal client satisfaction and availability of information upon request.
  • Identifies and manages risks & interdependencies across programs and initiatives in the EID portfolio, especially with an eye towards finding opportunities for collaboration and connection across established organizational lines.
  • Ensures communications to executives and senior leaders within the program office, national functions and eight regions are effective, timely and garner support for EID efforts
  • Leads with data-driven practices, concepts of change management, and process improvement to assist leaders and staff in implementing equity related concepts to enhance workforce effectiveness, operational efficiency, quality outcomes, and service excellence.
  • Develops and maintains a multifaceted health equity approach for driving culturally responsive experiences and high-quality outcomes in partnership with the medical groups, quality and operational leaders.
  • Develops and maintains a multifaceted approach for workforce equity that includes adoption of the equity principles, inclusive practices in everyday operations, workforce empowerment, and opportunities for advancement of all people, in partnerships with HR and organizational leaders.
  • Responsible for reviewing and consulting on policies to build compliance and organizational improvements for equitable standards aligned to external regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Leads national strategic relationships with external agencies and strategic partners.
  • Performs public policy analyses and interpretation of EID-related topics, and determines impact on organization, develops and implements processes and procedures to assure compliance.
  • In partnership with organizational partners, conducts continuous scanning, reviewing, & identifying of external and internal systems, processes, procedures, services, and policies to inform improvements across the organization.
  • Travel is required, ranging up to 20%.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience

  • Minimum twelve (12) years of progressive consulting and execution experience in all aspects of large-scale transformation or large program implementation, including change management, project/program management, strategy development, and process improvement.
Education

  • Bachelor-s degree in business administration, public health, public policy, health management, ethnic studies, or related field.

  • Experience should include managing complex cross-functional programs and initiatives.
  • Outstanding program management skills to lead prioritization and execution of strategic project initiatives and realizing true business benefit and outcomes.
  • Proven track record and demonstrated success building and scaling consulting practices serving a diverse set of clients within a complex of transforming key business functions/operations in a highly matrixed large enterprise environment.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated ability to think creatively and see beyond what exists in the current environment, identify value add prospects, and ability to translate new ideas, concepts, and vision into the KP enterprise
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (negotiation, influence, listening and communication skills) characterized by strong cross cultural communication skills and effective interactions with a diverse range of internal and external constituents, stakeholders, and audiences.
  • Political savvy and the ability to influence and facilitate decision making across a diverse group of executive and functional leaders is critical.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong high performing teams focused on execution, both within the executive-s direct reporting structure, as well as across the enterprise to deliver large, complex projects with high impact outcomes. Decisiveness, action-orientation, strong personal integrity, capability to persevere in difficult situations, and a focus on strategic leadership issues highly desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in working effectively with labor to successfully support the KP Labor-Management Partnership, and the needs of our workforce.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Kaiser Permanente or similar integrated systems is highly preferred.
  • Master-s degree preferred.
