Our Fire Safety and Power Systems division brings together an extensive range of skills and abilities to support some of the world's leading commercial, business and military aircraft manufacturers. Our Milwaukie, OR site specializes in Power Generation, Power Conversion, Magnetics, and Sensors for extreme environment applications.

Position Summary

The Electrical Engineer II provides technical support for all phases of product development, from research design through production. Applies expertise in both electrical and electronic engineering in various aspects of the development of components, topologies, control systems, Electricity and Magnetism concepts such as electromagnetic interference, harmonic distortion, and general power analysis of low and medium power systems. Some high and low voltage design is included.

Responsibilities
• Provides Electrical Engineering expertise for a range of activities: designing, testing, maintaining, and improving electronic components or products.
• Solves technical problems using a combination of experience, judgment and precedents.
• Requirements definition for design development
• Applies expertise in both electrical and mechanical engineering in various aspects of the development of components and control systems.
• Works in the Engineering in the lab and on the manufacturing floor to implement solutions for a variety of electrical products
• Prepares a range of reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
• Communicates complex technical information to others in a clear and effective manner in conversation and during internal and external presentations.
• Uses discretion and independent judgment when evaluating courses of action; makes decisions after considering various options.
• Other responsibilities as assigned
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance on-site is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.
Managerial Responsibilities
There are no direct reports for this role. However, the candidate is expected to have leadership skills such as leading with influence, being self-driven, growth mindset, and proven strong accountability behaviors, clear and professional communication.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor degree in Engineering required. A Master Degree or equivalent preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience, including Analog Circuit, design, analysis, testing and troubleshooting of Power Electronics topologies and devices as well as Electric Machines from the Electrical perspective.
Skills:
• Advanced knowledge of Electrical Engineering, especially analog circuits, power electronics, and electro-magnetic concepts for electric machines and the ability to apply power analysis methods to circuits, electrical components and systems, including electric machines, and/or the willingness to learn
• Excellent ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving
• Ability to explain a range of complex technical information, in various areas within Electrical and Electronics Engineering
• Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools
• Proven skills in AR&T and Power Electronics Design and testing preferred
