TITLE : ElLECTRICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN - Transmission Line Design/TELC

SUMMARY OF POSITION : Provides engineering technician support to the Transmission Line Design group. This includes CAD (microstation) and Projectwise support, and preparing, revising, distributing, and filing engineering drawings. Provides support and assists with maintaining our internal website, updating databases, preparing land use review requests (LURR) packages for staff review and assists with this review. Provides support and assistance for the development of design and maintannance standards, drawings and specifications including the airway lighting program. Must be able to serve as a lead technician on teams both within and outside the group. Assist engineers in field investigations and inspections as needed.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : Examples include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Provides CAD support to the Electrical Engineering portion of the Transmission Line Design Group.

2. Distributes drawings, documents and reports as requested by Design engineers or other customers.

3. Researches information, summarizes, tabulates, and compiles technical data as requested by Design Engineers.

4. Assists in maintaining the TEL and TELC internal Sharepoint web page. Uses own knowledge and creativity to maintain web user friendliness and accuracy of information displayed.

5. Assists Engineers with engineering permit package preparation. Updates and maintains engineering manuals and databases.

6. After appropiate training, assists in performance of engineering review of right of way permit applications.

7. Assists TELC engineers in locating appropriate drawings, and provides assistance to other design groups that request TELC drawings, documents or reports.

8. Assists engineers in preparation of materials for internal and external meetings.

9. Assist engineers on field trips as needed. Limited travel will be required.

10. Other dutues as assigned.




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. High school education or equivalent and a 2 year associates degree in a technical field or equivalent. Additional college course work or formal technical training beyond a 2 year associates degree is highly desirable. Requires a minimum two years of work experience utilizing computer software and databases, and procedures in a technical field.

2. Must be proficient in the use of CAD software (Microstation or equivalent) and drawing management software using Projectwise is highly desirable.

3. Must be proficient and accurate doing data entry and simple mathematics. Must demonstrate ability to use judgment in selecting procedures to be followed and items to be entered from a variety of source documents. Ability to perform basic engineering calculations is desirable.

4. Must be self-motivated, self- disciplined, detail oriented, able to prioritize work, independently problem solve technical issues. Must be dependable and have an excellent attendance record.

5. Strong technical abilities and aptitude biased toward the understanding and use of computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint are required. Experience in using electrical utility data and drawings are highly desirable.

6. Must be a motivated self checker and have outstanding written and oral communication skills.

7. Must be able to get along well with other team members and contribute positively to the team.
