POSITION TITLE: Electrical/Controls Engineer II

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible to effectively contribute to policy deployment and enterprise key initiatives within the Garland Assembly Electrical Engineering team. This is done through playing the key technical role in safety assessments, projects/assignments, and leading large-scale projects/assignments with a focus on continuous improvement, improving customer satisfaction, reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and eliminating variation in manufacturing processes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement new and existing equipment acceptance plans.

• Develop work methods and layouts.

• Electrical project management working with delivery partners to assure specifications and code requirements are followed.

• Design the power and control wiring of industrial automation equipment.

• Assess current vs. future electrical technology capabilities and investigate and suggest technology changes.

• Develop and implement new and existing equipment standards and acceptance plans.

• Support electrical safety in the plant, arc flash protection and calculations, electrical distribution requirements and coordination.

• Develop electrical print packages, programs, and layouts.

• Develop vender relationships and identify capable equipment vendor supply chain.

• Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction projects aligned to lean manufacturing principles.

• Understand and develop roadmap to address equipment and part obsolescence risks.

• Project management skills; deliver safe, effective, sustainable, and reliable solutions (project planning, approval process, equipment specification, budget, preventative maintenance, acceptance plans, design review, safety assessments, capital request).

• Mentor developing technicians and interns.

• Participative team approach to problem solving and root cause analysis with associates, supervisors, maintenance, value stream managers, and peers.

• Electrical process support for strategic initiatives.

• Collaborate with delivery partners to determine appropriate projects of focus, using available data from observation, queries, process data, and working partner input.

• Interface with Advanced Design, Product Engineering, and other business partners on the design for manufacturability, process capability, and production builds of new product or product revisions. This includes equipment integration, IoT and OEE initiatives.

• Occasional after-hours phone support or on-site support for emergencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology

• Minimum 5 years engineering experience

• Strong knowledge of PLC's, HMI's, drives, and control systems. Preferred experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, Control Logix, Compact Logix using RS Logix 5000, RS Logix 500, RSLinx, Panel Views, Factory Talk View platform including ME and SE.

• Strong knowledge of servo motion control, design, troubleshooting, and programing requirements.

• Experience with electrical schematics and components such as sensors, indicators, circulate protection, etc.

• Candidates must demonstrate aptitude and understanding of the troubleshooting process on mechanical/electrical automated industrial equipment.

• Effective communication and people skills, highly motivated, organized, and self-disciplined.

• Strong aptitude in process improvement and problem-solving.

• Strong math, science, mechanical and experimental skills

• Experience with AutoCAD skills

In 2023, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
