Pay

This position is an exempt position at pay grade 218.

Bonus: $10,000 initial sign on bonus (external candidates only)

Attendance

Non - rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview:

The Engineer IV is responsible for the project management of Storm Water CIP and maintenance projects as well as Street CIP and maintenance projects. The Engineer IV will perfom advanced engineering work, oversee the work of entry level engineers and be responsible for estimating, planning, designing and implementation of work through contracts or by Public Works in house crews.

Responsibilities

• Performs and oversees Storm Water and Streets CIP and maintenance projects

• Integral role in all stages including but not limited to preliminary planning, design and EOR during construction activities for plans designed in house

• Coordinates and communicates with other City departments, public agencies, consultants and contractors

• Oversees preparation of layouts, sketches, details plans, specifications and estimates

• Integrate survey data in design software, perform details geometric design work using design software (horizontal/ vertical alignments)

• Prepare and draft plan sheets

• Prepare final bid packages (plan sheets, preparing contract documents, and compiling City specs)

• Quantify items required for scope of work and prepare cost estimates which include quantities for roadway, earthwork, signing/ striping, drainage and environmental items

• Performs advances design computations in preparation for various upcoming projects that support the infrastructure Management Program

• Performs plan review, reviews designs and details drawings for accuracy and constructability

• Assists and provides comments during plan review stages

• Prepares contract documents and service agreements needed to meet the needs of Public Works

• Conduct site visits and field investigations, evaluate existing conditions and collect additional information needed to present findings and provide recommendations for improvements to ELT

• Prepare preliminary cost estimates, report findings to present to ELT

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

•Requires Bachelor's Degree (BA/ BS)

•Minimum of six (6) years of experience

•Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas

•A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
