Objectives of this Role:

  • This position will fill a role in supporting design, build, commissioning, and operations of pilot plants by designing, implementing, installing, testing, and troubleshooting process control systems and instrumentation
  • Be a leader in training, procurement, and inventory control for process controls and instrumentation of pilot plants, with expertise in technical areas of the research (electrification, etc).
  • Train technicians and engineers to maintain pilot plant area and operations with a high degree of technical success.
  • Emphasis on department safety culture, waste disposal, procedures, ISO.
  • Increased utilization by supporting existing large projects and conducting business development for existing and new areas.
  • Conduct strategic business development activities.


Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, install, test, and troubleshooting process control systems and instrumentation for pilot plants and unit operations for chemical or refinery systems.
  • Plan and conduct research and process development work in chemical, gas, and petroleum areas.
  • Support facility turnarounds, including scope development, planning, reviews, material selection and execution of work scopes, operator training, procedure development, laboratory upkeep, maintenance, and safety review/document preparation.
  • Department safety emphasis.
  • Provide technical assistance/troubleshooting assistance in resolving instrument operations and maintenance problems.
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, and operators to set up equipment and construct systems for new processes.
  • Promote and secure new work as trained through mentorship and internal business development training.
  • Provide technical supervision to other engineers, technicians, and analysts. Emphasis on proposal writing and publications.


Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors or a Masters in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and other related Engineering disciplines with related experience
  • Shift work required.
  • 1-3 years: Experience as a process controls/instrumentation engineer in the pilot plant fabrication and operation, refining, or petrochemical industries, computer skills, virtual meeting platforms, Word, and related.
  • High attention to detail in calculations, design, and operations.
  • Must be able to understand process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, I/O diagrams, and process control strategies.
  • Must be able to develop electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • 1-3 years: Must be able to communicate clearly and interface with clients or potential clients as needed in the course of the project or proposal process.
  • Must be able to conduct tasks in parallel.
  • Experience with actual hands-on operations of processes and test systems is preferred.
  • Experience Designing electrical systems, drawingwiring diagrams, and interpreting piping and instrumentation diagrams; instrumentation and AC/DC power equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving design challenges.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required

Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
