The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for an IT Field Services Engineering Technician at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your technology skills and experience supporting the AEGIS contract as primarily a cable plant technician with the opportunity to also support as network technician. This specific role will be primarily responsible for inside and outside cable plant technician service support and delivery with additional support to the network infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:

The IT Field Technician will be responsible for:
  • Installation of ducts and conduits, pulling cables, and terminating, testing, splicing, and repairing interior and outside copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Performing intermediate and advanced touch supporting for the cabling infrastructure in support of service delivery. Resolving incident tickets, work orders, performing problem investigations and collaborating with engineering resources on problem resolution and service installation and validation.
  • Installing, supporting, and/or maintaining infrastructure cabling and recommending cabling product and software upgrades.
  • Performing technical analyses of software, hardware and transmission facilities using various diagnostic tools in support of efficient cabling standards and networking equipment as related.
  • Demonstrating a high level of customer service, professionalism, end-user support to a large mission-oriented customer.
  • Utilizing existing knowledge while building additional knowledge of the company, client, and processes.
  • Resolving incidents according to service level agreements for all IT infrastructure problem or change requests.
  • Solving a range of straightforward problems and providing ad-hoc cabling and networking equipment.
  • Analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures.
  • Performing all work to the industry and JSC cabling standards for Quality.
  • Perform adequate configuration control and management for cabling changes.
  • Updating the required tools with work status including Remedy and keeping Patch Manager updated.
  • Completing work with minimal level of guidance and direction.
  • Solving basic to advanced problems by analyzing possible solutions using experience, judgement, and precedents.
  • Adhering to defined quality and configuration management processes and procedures.
  • Explaining information to others in straightforward situations.
  • Ensure equipment and services provide a consistent and high-quality end-user experience.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field or 8 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • 8 or more years of relevant IT experience
  • 5+ years of IT infrastructure inside and outside copper, coax, and fiber optic cabling installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • 5+ years experience in a large enterprise IT environment.
  • 5+ years' experience troubleshooting complex IT cabling and infrastructure issues.
  • 5+ years' experience troubleshooting networking equipment and attached devices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, i.e., weekends or late afternoons and evenings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with large enterprise IT infrastructure and cabling projects.
  • Experience with NASA
  • Asbestos certified and qualified as asbestos competent person.

Pay Range: Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00
