Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Environmental Scientist 2, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in our environmental consulting projects, contributing expertise in regulatory compliance. As an Environmental Scientist 2 you will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices. As an Environmental Scientist 2 you will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices. Our team takes a proactive approach to ensure projects run smoothly from start to finish.
In your position, we'll count on you to:
- Collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for rare or special-status species, coordination with government agencies and clients, map reviews, field investigations for wetlands, land use, etc
- Assimilate and manage data
- Prepare environmental constraints mapping
- Define the level of environmental analysis required
- Conduct and document environmental analysis, such as National Environmental Policy Act Review
- Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods
- Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings
- Assist public and private clients with environmental review, permit coordination, and environmental compliance.
- Work independently on medium-size projects, or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects
- Perform other related duties as needed
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
- 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel)
- Strong environmental writing and communication skills
- Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
