Summary:
Maintains biomedical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of a limited scope of biomedical equipment under the guidance and direct supervision of an experienced Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) professional. Performs skilled work on planned maintenance, repair, safety testing, and recording functional test data.
Formal Education Required:
a. Associate degree in biomedical equipment technology or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
OR
b. Military training in biomedical equipment technology
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Knowledge of practices and procedures, methods, tools, test equipment, and materials used in the use, repair, and maintenance of general biomedical equipment.
b. Demonstrates competency to use or learn computer applications to include (but not limited to); e-mail systems, word processing, spreadsheets and CMMS systems.
c. Demonstrates competency related to the use of service and repair manuals including understanding of operating instruction, service diagrams, flow charts and schematics.
d. Demonstrates competency related to oral and written communications and utilizes these skills in a professional and respectful manner.
e. Possesses basic understanding and skills related to general electronics, electro-mechanical systems and devices.
f. Basic knowledge of mathematics, anatomy, physiology, biology, physics, chemistry, medical terminology, English, computer and networking peripherals, and professional skills.
g. Basic understanding of both local and national public safety and regulatory issues.
h. Basic understanding of project management terms and methods.
i. Ability to travel to and from various locations in the region.
j. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
Level of Physical Demands:
a. Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
b. Hazards: Possible hazards include exposure to electrical shock, ionizing radiation, chemicals and chemical fumes, high-pressure air, infectious disease, and various other hazards associated with biomedical engineering work.
$23.51/hr - $28.21/hr
The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
