The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, one of the world's leading business schools, seeks an Executive Coach, Professional Degree Programs to join its team in Rosslyn, VA. With strong momentum in the residential MBA and professional degree formats, the Executive Coach joins Darden at an exciting time.

Partnering with the Managing Director and professional degree program careers team, this position helps in building a comprehensive approach to career development programming and resources and deep and meaningful connections with our Professional Degree students in three distinct programs (Executive MBA, part-time MBA and Master of Science in Business Analytics).

In addition to the Professional Degrees team, the position works closely with other Darden departments, the team supporting Washington DC Metro Initiatives, Alumni/Engagement, the Batten Institute, Mayo Center for Asset Management, Center for Global Initiatives, and the Institute for Business in Society, among others, to cultivate and develop relationships in support of student engagement and success.

A successful Executive Coach invests time understanding the needs of the students and strategically connecting and supporting them. Support includes developing and executing Darden's career education programs, one-on-one career advising and alumni interaction. This role has an in-depth understanding of job leads, postings, applications, interviews, and offers. This position also develops opportunities for processes, connections, and outcomes related to networking or professional advancement. Of note, this role would involve helping develop new curricula, deliver workshops, and potentially co-teach credit-bearing career-related content to our working professional students.

Given the academic and co-curricular schedules of professional degree students, weeknight and regular weekend hours are necessary at Rosslyn's Sand Family Grounds and a few times a year in Charlottesville, Virginia.

This position is open to a hybrid work schedule with an in-person presence in Rosslyn, VA.

Responsibilities:
  • Advises professional degree graduate business students on their purpose (career path definition and skills assessment), pathway (resources and options), presence (resume writing, networking, interviewing, offer-related decisions), and other aspects of an MBA and master's degree related job search
  • Serves as the primary Darden career center point of contact for the McIntire School of Commerce regarding the MSBA program including coaching and career programming
  • Creates and delivers credit-bearing career development and leadership training curriculum across professional degree programs, including Professional Advancement Courses, with clearly defined learning outcomes. Responsible for engagement, communication, and evaluation of students for these courses
  • Develops and facilitates programs, presentations, and events. Advises student organizations on career activities. Innovate new ways to support professional degree students.
  • Works with employers for recruiting events occasionally and helps to find and build new relationships with employers, alongside the Managing Director and Employer Engagement team
  • Manages and records career coaching and outcome data in career management systems and produces related reports, analytics, insights, and recommendations
  • Improves quality of career outcomes for professional degree job seekers as measured by timely employment and compensation realized by candidates. Makes the Darden Career Center the best in class among the top business schools for professional degree students
  • Collaborates, partners, and builds productive relationships with Career Center and other student services and admissions team members and individuals across the Darden Enterprise
  • Partners (alongside the other members of the professional degree career team) with our student-run, class Career Representatives; serves as a career contact for one or more student clubs
  • Models and nurtures extraordinary service levels emphasizing responsiveness to and support of professional degree students
Education and Professional Experience:
  • Master's degree and at least seven years of related experience is required. Master of Business Administration (MBA) from a leading business school or terminal degree preferred
  • Experience with MBA hiring processes and with coaching individuals is preferred
  • Management/strategy consulting experience highly preferred
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, analyze resources, and make data driven decisions
  • Impact and results orientation; gets things done both individually and through others. Attention to detail, ability to follow through on commitments
  • Proven ability to develop productive long-term relationships with faculty, staff, professional degree students, and outside stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in their work and successfully partner with, engage and support professionals from diverse backgrounds
  • High-level of emotional intelligence, empathy, integrity, responsiveness, and collaborative ability
  • Willingness to work flexibly according to professional degree student & employer schedules.
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • Career coaching credential or certification (complete or in progress) preferred
  • Familiarity with global business trends and issues
  • Proficiency with LinkedIn preferred
  • Analytical and technical skills, with experience in a CRM-based function. Experience with career management systems (GradLeaders, 12twenty, Simplicity, or VMock) preferred; if not, apparent analytical ability to learn it
