Position Overview
Manages the derivative operations team in its daily trade capture, trade settlement, and collateral activities. Provides thought leadership on key structural issues and key resource in developing new strategies. Manages resources to ensure proper daily coverage.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in business, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or equivalent working experience
• 10+ years related industry work experience including 5+ years in derivative operational activities
Preferred:
• Financial service industry knowledge
• CFA Accreditation or MBA or master's degree in business, science, or mathematics or advanced actuarial level

• Advanced ability to manage sophisticated issues to tight daily deadlines under stressful conditions
• Advanced ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects, including the ability to re-prioritize tasks constantly based on the level of activity generated by the team and other associates.

• Intermediate knowledge of valuation concepts for cashflow discounting models
• Intermediate market knowledge including regulatory differences between the various jurisdictions

• Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to share and impart knowledge and to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders, including customers and managed associates

The general pay range for this position is $`45K-$175K base per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. Manages the derivative operations team in its daily trade capture, trade settlement, and collateral activities. Provides thought leadership on key structural issues and key resource in developing new strategies. Manages resources to ensure proper daily coverage.
Responsibilities
- Manage the derivative operations team for all activities including trade capture, trade settlement, and collateral.
- Lead and evaluate direct reporting staff members
- Direct the daily processes to ensure compliance with RGA's derivative legal obligations including timely payments and collateral activities. This includes liaising with Investment Portfolio Management and Treasury to ensure proper funding of derivative positions
- With with Derivative Valuation Leader to support the daily processes involved in providing the explanation of the day-over-day performance attribution
- Processes the higher level duties associated with the group's task list and acts as a backup as needed for day to day activities
- Work with Derivative Valuation Leader and Data Management to resolve operational aspects of derivative valuation including market data issues
- Work with Derivative Valuation Leader and Derivative Accounting to support hedge effectiveness testing
- Establish and maintain controls, reconciliations, integrating and monitoring the end-of-day simulation results for derivative positions
- Supervise the production of monthly and ad hoc reporting used by the DROC and other consumers of derivative information and propose new reporting as appropriate
- Respond to various ad-hoc information requests from other functions within the organization such as Investments, Corporate Finance, Corporate Risk, etc.
- Work with Derivative Operations Leader to support operational issues surrounding Dodd-Frank, UMR compliance, and ISDA management
- Advise Head of Derivative Operations on resource requirements (staffing and system needs).
- Independently takes care of new transaction due diligence reporting requests.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
