The University of Virginia Darden School of Business seeks a part-time Faculty Activity Database Administrator and Project Manager to join the Office of Faculty and Research team. This Faculty Activity Database Administrator and Project Manager will manage the creation/importation, updates, and maintenance of faculty activity data within the Faculty Activity Insights information system. Data within the system is used to track, report, and analyze faculty contributions for a wide variety of institutional and external reporting purposes. This position is responsible for managing the Peer review process (faculty annual reviews) for the Darden School.

This is a part-time wage position without benefits, limited to 1500 hours per year.

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA with flexibility for a hybrid work schedule.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
  • Mange the Peer review Process from beginning to end in support of the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research and the Peer Review Committee
  • Manage the flow of information from the individual faculty member to the committee
  • Support all the committee's reporting and data needs and all comparison analysis
  • Ensure the process meets deadlines and provides satisfactory deliverables
  • Prepare and perform key annual data imports used for the annual faculty review reporting. Data uploads and manual data entry include:
    • Research underway
    • Creation of new intellectual capital - books, journal articles, teaching materials, etc.
    • Teaching (course load, courses taught, teaching evaluations)
    • Service at Darden/UVA and to the profession
    • Presentations, honors and awards
    • Consulting activity (Darden Executive Education, outside teaching and consulting with private organizations)
  • Prepare reports for various purposes including:
    • Peer review process
    • Tenure and promotion process
    • Annual ranking surveys
    • AACSB accreditation reports
    • Metrics on productivity for leadership
  • Audit the data as needed to insure integrity and completeness
  • Work to improve data import processes and other school information systems data integration efficiencies (registrar, Darden Business Publishing, etc.)
  • Continually develop increased knowledge of Activity Insights capabilities and opportunities
  • Act as liaison and Work closely with the Activity Insights support team to create and edit reports
  • Work closely with the Director of Faculty Affairs to support regular and ad hoc reporting and analyses as requested
  • Work closely with Executive Director of Faculty Advancement for AACSB accreditation and leadership reporting
  • Work with the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research on Peer review and other reporting as requested
  • Support other Office of Faculty and Research projects as necessary, including supporting website updates, research conferences, and faculty recruiting logistics

Education and Professional Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline and one year of experience required.
  • 4 - 7 years working in a structured environment interacting with multiple levels of management preferred.
  • A desire, ability and interest in building and working with fairly complex databases.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a wide variety of tasks and complex sets of information.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to synthesize complex and diverse information.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels within the organization.

  • Computer/technology skills
    • Strong working knowledge of Excel including ability to take data from different data bases and formats to create new spreadsheets; ability to use pivot tables.
    • Strong working knowledge of Word, including mail merge
    • Proficiency using various internet browsers and search engines as a resource to find and collect relevant information.
Position Compensation: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
