Intern - Data Analytics and Quality Assurance

Job Summary:

The overall purpose of this position is to support data workflows, QA, and analytics related to IEEE SA's operations and applications within the Solutions and Data management and Market Business Intelligence Reporting and Operations teams. The incumbent in this position will assist in creating data workflows and visualizations; performing QC on Excel template conformity; creating statistical and analytical algorithms; data privacy rights processing; and some general data cleanup / QA. The candidate will have the opportunity to demonstrate and develop skills and knowledge in Excel, Tableau, data management, GDPR rights of individuals, etc. The role reports to the Standards Data Mgmt, Bus Intelligence & Data Privacy senior manager, and has no direct reports. This position works under close supervision, but the candidate should be a self-starter with good technical and analytical skills and a passion for learning and adopting applicable technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Assist in the development of dashboards and visualizations in Tableau

Assist in the identification, development and implementation of statistical and analytical algorithms to enhance current reports

Assist in the processing of Data Privacy Rights Requests

Quality assurance tasks

Education and Experience:

Pursuing a bachelor's degree (junior or senior year) in ComputerData Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or similar STEM discipline.

Certifications or training in relevant Excel, SmartSheets, Data Analytics also considered.

Skills & Other Requirements:

Minimum:

Excel intermediate to advanced skills functions and concepts: VLookup; multi-level sorting; remove duplicates; pivot tables

Google intermediate to advanced: forms/sheets

Competent in coding using common data structures and algorithms

Basic understanding of databases and data structures

Good interpersonal and communication skills

Detailed oriented and organized

Ability and willingness to learn new concepts in data quality assurance

Preferred additional skills:

Tableau or other analytic/reporting experience

Good analytical skills with ability to model and visualize statistical patterns in data
