Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 STUDENT INTERN EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a FAMILY PROGRAM SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T5301000 and is part of the CO Family Programs Office, National Guard.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a team member and advisor on Family Program issues, assist in the development, planning, implementing, and administering the Family Program concerning family and quality of life issues.

Duties

Serves as an advisor on quality of life and Family Program matters for National Guard and reserve members with the goal of maximizing retention and readiness. Assists in planning, maintaining, and updating an ongoing system of information and referral for use by the military community. Receives and maintains volunteer hours contributed; supports Family Readiness Groups; designs and conducts training programs for volunteers; and designs and conducts volunteer recognition activities. Serves as representative at conferences and meetings on quality of life and Family Program matters. Plans and coordinates mobilization processes for pre-deployment, deployment, and post-deployment issues. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position.

Must have at least 24 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:

1. Experience in any position that required compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information.

2. Experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled.

3. Experience developing administrative procedures.

4. Experience in administrative procedures and practices of management.

RECENT GRADUATE PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY:

*Applicants must have obtained a qualifying associates, bachelors, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution, within the previous 2 years unless military service interfered with a veterans eligibility to apply during that two year time frame. Veterans meeting the above exclusion may apply within 2 years of discharge or 6 years from the date of receipt of the degree whichever comes first.

Recent Graduates will enter a formal training program with a mentor (assigned within 90 days of appointment) and an Individual Development Plan, executed within 45 days of the appointment, outlining training requirements and program expectations.

Recent Graduates must receive at least 40 hours of formal training directly linked to their employment field.

Recent graduates serve a trial period for the duration of their excepted service appointment.

Recent graduates will be required to sign a Pathways Recent Graduate Participant Agreement.
