The Role

We have an immediate opening forField Technician I.The role focuses on the installation and troubleshooting of next generation technologies and equipment leveraging fiber solutions. In addition, daily activities include receiving, processing and returning part deliveries and ordering supplies. Providing access support to vendors for sites. Responsible to learn all the systems and applications required to perform the job function. Maintain tools, test sets, electronic equipment used in supporting job as well as sites. Performs basic Tier 1 preventive/scheduled maintenance and inspections on equipment and on the critical infrastructure including, but not limited to: HVAC systems, Generators, Power Plants

Location and Schedule

• We are looking for individuals who are in the Richmond, VA area.
• Monday through Friday, with rotational on-call schedule as needed.
• After hours will be required on occasion.
• There will be opportunities for Over Time.

The Main Responsibilities

• Manage the dispatched workload of installs, troubles, and preventative maintenance tickets to meet standard delivery intervals. This includes statusing tickets, recording time worked and notes to describe work performed on task.
• Install, turn-up, and decommission of Customer Premise equipment as well as more complex installations from vendors such as Infinera, Adva, Ciena.
• Troubleshoot network equipment, removes/replaces defective equipment, and works with appropriate resources to isolate and ultimately restore network. Regularly use of test equipment such as EXFO OTDR or Viavi tools in support of issue identification.
• Performs level 1 preventive scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment including HVAC systems, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants.
• Respond to emails, IMs regularly to Customer Care, Service Assurance and other key partners seeking status on tasks.
• Participate in Technician Training program to deepen technical knowledge
• Perform other duties assigned by the management team.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Qualifications:

• Must have PC skills and be well versed in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
• Must be able to rent a vehicle if company vehicle is under repair

• High School Diploma or GED or up to 2 years of relevant job experience including 1 years network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
• Entry-level technician with experience and/or knowledge of at least one of the four major technician disciplines: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), and Outside Plant (Fiber locating, OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing, etc.).
• Must maintain site security and cleanliness.
• Must have PC skills and be well versed in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
• On-call 24x7 on a rotational basis, on stand-by, call out, dispatch, and overtime are required as dictated by the business.
• A valid driver's license
• Sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; lift 50 lbs.; works in all weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of relevant job experience and/or Associate Degree
• Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities.
• Ability to prioritize with good time management skills.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$44,138 - $58,850 in these states: VA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
