Job Summary

This individual will be responsible for division's higher level financial reporting and data processing with an emphasis on grant knowledge. This individual will be the grant expert with the knowledge in HRS submissions for contracts, yearly continuations, award modifications and grant renewals. Must have experience with grants and annual RPPR submissions in eRA Commons. Proficient in Excel programming and management expense tracking on grants. Knowledge of PeopleSoft and running reports. Also, knowledge of billing for services and performing both salary and non-salary cost transfers. Personal qualities necessary include high level of organization, critical thinking skills, time management and high-level communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis

  • Develop and prepare financial models to support business transactions, service offerings, and performance improvement initiatives within the Infectious Disease Department.
  • Conduct utilization analysis and trending to identify areas for further investigation and develop supporting reports specific to infectious disease treatments and services.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of annual and capital budgets, with a focus on infectious disease programs, and maintain monthly variance reports with actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor financial performance, productivity metrics, and revenue cycle management, including billing, coding, and payer issue resolution related to infectious disease services.
  • Participate in cost-reduction and revenue-enhancement projects within the department.


Procurement and Operations

  • Oversee purchasing activities and resource allocation, particularly for infectious disease research and treatment resources.
  • Participate in space planning to ensure optimal use of facilities for infectious disease care.
  • Ensure efficient operations by monitoring patient flow and reviewing policies and procedures for cost and quality improvements specific to the Infectious Disease Department.
  • Initiate departmental financial transactions and support the implementation of operational enhancements within infectious disease services.


Systems and Technology

  • Ensure accurate data recording and tracking across clinical, human resource, financial, and supply chain systems, with a focus on infectious disease data.
  • Promote the use of technology to enhance decision-making processes within the Infectious Disease Department.


External Funding

  • Support externally funded projects related to infectious disease research, including grant budget development and expense tracking.
  • Collaborate with Sponsored Programs and regulatory offices to ensure compliance with NIH and other funding guidelines.
  • Maximize reimbursement and meet reporting requirements by liaising with program managers, principal investigators, and funding agencies focused on infectious disease.


Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day functional leadership and potentially manage a small support staff within the Infectious Disease Department.
  • Establish team goals, perform employee performance reviews, and oversee work assignments.
  • Act as a mentor, provide training, and identify coaching needs within the team.
  • Support human resources in staffing and retention strategies, and ensure adherence to HR policies and compliance requirements specific to the Infectious Disease Department.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant work experience.


Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or Finance.
