Job Duties

VDOT is excited to offer and announce an exciting opportunity to serve as a Fiscal Technician in Loudoun County as part of our NOVA District! This position provides financial and other business support services for the Loudoun Business Support Section.

Primary job duties include, but is not limited to:

Maintaining, calculating, researching, validating, and performing data input into a financial management system for a variety of transactions. Transactions may include time and attendance, accounts payable, procurement, credit card direct charges, travel expenses, and other fiscal items.

Interpret applicable policies and procedures.

Review all transactions for completeness, accuracy, proper approvals, and required documentation. Interact with internal and external customers to resolve discrepancies.

Prepare financial reports, interpret system-generated reports, and run queries.

Maintain, purge and dispose of files in accordance with guidelines and schedules.

Enter data on inventory in inventory and financial systems and confirm accuracy and completeness of transactions.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the Business Support function.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of basic accounting and business principles and practices sufficient to monitor and analyze data.
Knowledge of time and leave rules and reporting.
Experience performing data entry into automated financial systems and other programs. Experience preparing financial reports and running queries.
Experience with file management using established guidelines and schedules.
Skill in performing basic math calculations.
Skill in the use of computers and software applications including MS Office programs and automated financial and inventory systems.

Additional Considerations

Experience applying GAAP, governmental accounting, internal controls, inventory and compliance. Knowledge and experience with Accounts Payable and Receivable.
Knowledge and experience with time and leave rules and reporting.
Experience performing account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.
Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
