Description

SAIC is hiring a Principal GIS Data Scientist for an active contract with the FAA. This position is remote and the applicant can reside anywhere within the U.S. but must be able to travel to both the SAIC facilities (Reston, VA and Washington D.C.) and the customer facilities (Washington, D.C. and Atlantic City, NJ) on an as needed basis.

Works in cross-functional teams with data at all stages of the analysis lifecycle to derive actionable insight. Translates mission needs into an end-to-end analytical approach to achieve results. Performs the pre-analytics areas of data collection and understanding, data cleansing and integration, and data storage and retrieval. Determines the appropriate analytics based on the data and the desired outcomes, using techniques including feature detection, statistics, data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, natural language processing, and business intelligence. Interprets the validity of results and communicates the meaning of those results. Has familiarity with data wrangling, analytics, and visualization software and programming languages, including analytics methods for big data. Follows a scientific approach to generate value from data, verifying results at each step.

This position will work as the component lead for the GIS component of a product we are delivering as a service to the FAA. The ideal applicant will have the skill set to develop a GIS application with low-code/no-code configuration. They will also work with other application leads to integrate this with other components as part of the tech stack.

Qualifications

Required Education and Skills:
  • Bachelors Degree and nine (9) years or more relevant experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
  • Knowledge and use of low-code/no-code data analytics and data science tools (Tableau, Dataiku, Cloud AI tools)
  • The ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
Desired Skills:
  • GIS Applications (Esri, Google Earth, Cesium)
  • Degree in GIS
  • Experience on working with Agile development teams.
  • History working with the FAA or DOT data
Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
