Duties
This position is located in the Office of Data Science Strategy (ODSS), Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Coordination (DPCPSI), Office of the Director (OD), National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The ODSS FAIR Data and Resources team aims to grow and foster a community of research software engineers and the development of biomedical research software. This position is critical to provide committed stewardship to develop and manage software program initiatives required to advance biomedical and behavioral research, a goal of the NIH strategic plan for data science. Specifically, the position will:
- lead a NIH working group, develop new program initiatives, and coordinate both the pre-award as well as post award activities;
- enhance the development of software best practices for biomedical software development, sharing, and their reuse;
- work with the larger Research Software (RSE) community, gather input, and engage in strategies to better sustain biomedical research software; and
- serve as a NIH liaison to coordinate NIH partnership with other agencies in research software programs.
