Job Summary
  • Reporting to the Clinical Quality Director, the Healthcare Data Analyst- Quality serves as a subject matter expert in data analysis, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of clinical quality and other business data. Develops the departmental analytical capabilities to produce reports and dashboards needed for short and long-term decision-making and to achieve success in managing performance improvement and safety initiatives.
  • The Healthcare Data Analyst-Quality partners with members of the Quality team within the Quality and Patient Safety department and the Emerson Information Systems staff to create and maintain a seamless process for fulfilling the data needs of the Quality Department and support external quality data reporting. Acts as a liaison and technical expert in the implementation and use of new IT tools or databases.
  • The Healthcare Data Analyst-Quality works closely with other hospital departments to ensure the optimal functionality of data extraction from EMR software, clinical processes, and the flow of information between Quality and Patient Safety and other areas of the hospital.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education
    • BA/BS required
  • Experience
    • Experience in data analytics in a healthcare setting preferred.
    • Familiarity with various coding/datasets (ICD-10, CPT4, HCPCS) and an understanding of the assignment of DRG values for hospital claims reimbursement preferred.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology.
    • Experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports or Tableau preferred.

    • Strong analytic and data management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to appropriately scope and execute evaluation and analysis work.
    • Practical problem-solving abilities, i.e. the ability to formulate hypotheses, test options and move forward.
    • Experienced at evaluating requirements for projects and developing approaches to solving and building analytic solutions.
    • Ability to measure actual performance against benchmarks or targets.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required, including expertise with the creation of Pivot Tables and Access databases.
    • Ability to maintain confidential information.
