Substitute School Bus Driver (Substitute placement is an on-call, as needed basis.)

This position is not eligible for benefits or union membership

Under the direction of the Lead Driver, the candidate will support safe and efficient operations of student transportation.

Essential Functions
  • Drive a school bus for the purpose of transporting passengers over scheduled routes to and from school, extra-curricular events and/or field trips as assigned in a safe and timely manner.
  • Assist students and other passengers for the purpose of providing safe loading and unloading practices from buses including both emergency situations and normal transport.
  • Advise students and other passengers of appropriate behavior for the purpose of reinforcing regulations and maintaining passenger safety.
  • Conduct emergency evacuation drills.
  • Continuously scan all engine/equipment gauges for the purpose of ensuring safe operation of the vehicle.
  • Clean assigned vehicles daily (e.g. bodily fluids, spills, dust, sweep, mop, windows/headlights/mirrors/windshield cleaned, scrub graffiti, scrape gum, etc.)

- Be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent; and
- Criminal history clearance
- Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License, Class B, CDL with appropriate endorsements
- Possess a valid Washington State School Bus Driver's Certificate
- Possess a valid First Aid/CPR Certification
