We’re looking for a Human Resources (HR) Coordinator who embodies the Hyatt values and has previous hospitality experience. This entry level HR position works in partnership with the Human Resources team, hotel leaders and hotel colleagues. This HR Coordinator position assists as the gate keeper in the HR department and they are the first impression to our colleagues. The HR Coordinator supports the HR Director, Asst. HRD and HR Manager. The collective HR team works as a team to deliver best in class experiences to all colleagues, provides exceptional service and engages with all colleagues.

Our hotels have been open for a few years now and we need an HR Coordinator who is a go-getter, has strong attention to detail, consistent organizational skills, and a can-do service orientated attitude. The HR Coordinator must be flexible and adaptable to the different HR tasks and be ready to help all colleagues, through a service-oriented culture and through a lens of care. This is an hourly position starting at $25 / hour. (Decisions regarding pay will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.).

Responsibilities / Duties: Inspiring a service-oriented culture is one of the most critical roles for this position. Forbes training is a critical piece of how we train our colleagues. At a broad stroke, responsibilities fall into these key areas: (culture, whole person focus, financial / payroll, general people, culture responsibilities, and engagement / retention)

• Data entry including, new hires, transfers, compliance certificates, and confidential colleague information.

• Tracking certifications & trainings in HR systems. Updates managers as needed on a monthly basis.

• Filing electronically in HR system.

• Completes Verification of Employment forms and EDD claims.

• Department communications, including HR events, trainings, flyers & updating bulletin boards on a weekly basis.

• Colleague engagement and retention (assisting to reduce turnover) & posting scores on bulletin boards.

• Making packets and booklets for all Orientations & assisting to update information as needed.

• Support HR policies and procedures.

• Assist with recruitment & staffing needs.

• Elevates questions to HR leaders on any CA employment law & Hyatt policies.

• Assist to schedule appointments for HR leaders for any colleague & labor relations items.

• Knowledgeable in Hyatt Benefits programs, basic Workers’ compensation & Leave of Absence knowledge. Works with our third-party administrators and with HR leaders as needed for questions.

• Champion all Hyatt programs, including Hyatt Diversity and Inclusion programs.

• Community partner with local Oceanside businesses and sister hotels.

• Cross-trained in all areas of HR including back up in some payroll functions.

• Other duties as assigned by HRD.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year or more of progressive HR experience preferred and / or experience in one or more HR events.
  • 2 years or more of hotel experience required.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish required.
  • Preferred SHRM or PHR, HR certification
  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent hospitality / HR experience.
  • Service-oriented with professional presentation skills & professional demeanor.
  • Basic Knowledge of CA employment law.
  • Confidentiality and discretion in all HR matters is required.
  • Possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, proven track record in high volume concept, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service through a lens of care, ability to improve the bottom line, and attention to detail.
  • Refined clear & concise written and verbal communication.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office, including Word, PowerPoint and intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal & administrative skills.
  • Strong attention to detail skills required.
  • Strong proven organizations skills required.
  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of our internal & external guests in a fast-paced environment.
