Job Summary

Join a mission-driven team in the Cross-Cutting Epidemiology Unit of the Infectious Disease, Epidemiology, Prevention and Control (IDEPC) Division and contribute to protecting, maintaining, and improving the health of all Minnesotans. As a Midwest Analytics and Disease Modeling Center (MADMC) student worker, you will support the general functions of MADMC, which is a partnership between the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), MN Electronic Health Records Consortium, and the University of Minnesota. MADMC's goal is to help leaders make optimal decisions during public health emergencies by providing them with predictive scenarios based on data analysis and mathematical models during a disease outbreak.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Provide support for MADMC data analysis activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of new modeling and analytic tools into IDEPC workflows for MADMC and other activities.
  • Assist with identifying relevant sources (e.g., data sets, results in published literature) of inputs needed for implementation of novel tools.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of technical documentation for novel tools.
  • Participate in evaluations and prepare data summaries in collaboration with MADMC partners.
  • Complete data error checking to identify discrepancies and illogical information.

This position may have the option of some teleworking; however, it will be based on the business needs of the unit and is at supervisory discretion. Employees may telework from Minnesota or a neighboring state (Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota) under the normal telework agreement.

This position is part-time and will work 20 hours per week. The specific hours and days of work are flexible Monday through Friday. This position is anticipated to last up to three years or until the selected candidate completes their educational program, whichever occurs sooner.
