Non-competitive: bachelor's degree* with at least 15 credit hours in cyber security, information assurance, or information technology.

*Substitution: bachelor's degree candidates without at least 15 course credits in cyber security, information assurance, or information technology require one year of general information technology experience to qualify. Appropriate information security or information assurance experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis; an associate's degree requires an additional two years of general information technology experience.

Duties Description The incumbent will report to the Office of Counter Terrorism's (OCT) Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT). Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare correspondence, briefings, reports, white papers, presentations, standards, bulletins, advisories, and other written materials as needed, including content for CIRT web pages.
• Assist clients in understanding CIRT products and services and ways in which clients may utilize them to improve their cybersecurity/security posture.
• Organize, coordinate, facilitate and participate in cyber security related meetings, work groups, training, and tabletop exercises for diverse stakeholder populations.
• Establish, maintain, and mature customer contact, inventory and communication lists, and develop groupings to efficiently disseminate targeted distributions.
• Facilitate the implementation and operation of DHSES cyber initiatives and assist in the coordination and operational support of targeted program activities.
• Assist unit supervisors in documenting new policies and procedures including scheduling periodic review of policies and procedures.
• Develop and utilize research methodology techniques to evaluate cyber topics in areas where precedents are lacking, or a sparse body of knowledge or experience exists.
• Collaborate with members of the DHSES CIRT Team and external agencies, and experts in the cyber security community to identify and remain current in industry standard cyber best practices.
• Review cyber preparedness and incident response information from multiple sources and collaborate in developing comprehensive materials to assist CIRT clients in protecting their cyber systems.
• Assist in providing cyber incident response services.

Additional Comments Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required.

NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.
