Job Summary

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The job of Instructional Assistant, Sign Language is done for the purpose(s) of assisting a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely, physically or visually handicapped students in a classroom who use American Sign Language as their primary language; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance and assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.

Requirements / Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Six months of experience providing sign language interpreting for hearing impaired individuals. Experience in a school setting is preferred. REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent CERTIFICATES/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES: Valid California driver's license is required REQUIRED TESTING: Once this position closes, your application will be screened for minimum qualifications. Those who meet the minimum qualifications will be e-mailed an invitation for testing.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: A complete application must meet the criteria listed below and must have the following documentation attached to your online EdJoin application prior to the position closing date/time:

  • Copy of Transcript (Optional: In order to bypass testing, a copy of legible transcripts must be attached to your application showing successful passing of 48 or more eligible semester units from an accredited college/university.
