Job Summary:

Dr. Elena Shagisultanova is seeking to employ an Intermediate Laboratory Sciences Professional to conduct bench and translational research. Dr. Shagisultanova is an Associate Professor in the Division of Medical Oncology of at the University of Colorado Cancer Center. Her research is focused on the mechanisms of drug resistance in breast cancer, including aggressive breast cancer subtypes, such as breast cancer driven by HER2 oncogene. This research is highly translational, and the results can be readily tested in subsequent clinical trials thereby influencing the lives of many patients with breast cancer. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions.
  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects, including cell culture, western blotting, immunofluorescence, mouse surgeries, in vitro and in vivo drug screens, cloning, PCR, flow cytometry.
  • Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research.
  • Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting, and communicating results.
  • Perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical test process and evaluate results produced.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • One (1) year professional level research experience.


A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $48,970 - $62,290.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
