Position Summary

College Intern Mechanical Engineer

The Parker Aerospace College Intern is designed for college students to join the Aerospace Group and learn about our culture, business structure and operational functions, as well as the customers and products of various Parker Aerospace operating divisions. The program offers the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge of Parker products, internal processes, systems, and technical customer requirements. The program is tailored to be cross-functional to help current college students develop skills and provide a solid foundation for Engineering. Their fresh ideas and enthusiasm, combined with our industry leadership, will help us continue our success as the premier manufacturer of aerospace fluid conveyance systems.

The Manufacturing Engineer intern position works closely with engineering managers, senior engineers and mentors as well as internal and external customers on various engineering projects. Projects may encompass a wide variety of internal business needs and engineering needs. Projects may include application of engineering fundamentals, front line problem solving, lean manufacturing initiatives, cellular manufacturing, assembly and test build plans, tooling concept and design as well as other relevant research associated with aerospace products. This position is a developmental position for students to gain an understanding of practical engineering concepts in all aspects of design, development, and manufacturing. The typical length of internship: 3 - 6 months.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage, and administer projects as requested by engineering management or senior level engineers.
  • Research, design and implement tooling and products regarding divisional Engineering initiatives and internal/external customer requirements.
  • Develop assembly and test build plans utilizing lean initiatives in a manufacturing flow line environment.
  • Modify existing assembly and test build plans then input into native software platform.
  • Research and maintain routings and bills of material for product.
  • Input build plan and routing data into MES system (Solumina) or other software platforms.
  • Improve process capability, productivity and efficiencies through research, design and manufacture of product.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Student Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 of better; Core Class GPA of 3.2 or better
  • Excellent communication and teaming skills
  • Professional attitude and demeanor
  • Knowledge of computer aided design
  • Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • This role is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), which requires the incumbent to be either a US citizen, lawful permanent resident ["green card" holders], or have refugee or asylee status).
