Position Summary:

The Graduate Assistant in the Office of International Student & Scholar Services will contribute to the mission of the office which is providing programs & services that contribute to the thriving of our international students and scholars in their successful adjustment to life in the U.S. and at Rollins, as well as their compliance with immigration responsibilities.

Anticipated Employment Dates: 08/26/2024 - 05/06/2025

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and performs front office support, including walk-ins, phone inquiries, and scheduling of appointments, while serving as a reliable source of information on Rollins departments and procedures.
  • Provides support for logistics for programs/activities such as International Student Orientation, workshops, monthly social and immigration programs, International Education Week, etc.
  • Assists in the processing and emailing of immigration documents.
  • Manages Social Media accounts.
  • Manages marketing of student programming.
  • Assists with International Student Orientation and International Education Week preparations.
  • Manages student request forms processing: preparation of letters, Banner registration checks, USCBP entry record check; scanning and uploading of docs to OnBase.
  • Answers basic immigration questions and prepares student immigration paperwork.
  • Performs basic data analysis to prepare ad hoc reports or presentations.
  • Creates and updates handouts, publications, web pages, databases, etc.
  • Manages the Academic Warning outreach email process.
  • Manage the oisss@rollins.edu email account and main phone line.
  • Assists in tracking health insurance enrollment and performs semester audits to ensure student coverage.
  • Maintains budget spreadsheet.
  • Supports assistant director on the coordination and implementation of the International Peer Advisor program.
  • Assists assistant director and director with assessments.

Scheduled Hours: Flexible, within 9:00am - 5:00pm

Work Environment: Office environment requiring sitting for extended periods of time, traveling across campus, and occasions bending/lifting/twisting.

Pay: The hourly pay rate is $15/hr. and there are no benefits associated with this position.

Qualifications and Skill Sets:


The Graduate Assistant serving in this position must demonstrate a strong work ethic, a high degree of initiative, dependability and personal accountability, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and in teams. Additional skills and aptitudes include:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two or three years of office experience, preferably in a university, non-profit, or law office setting (preferred).
  • Fluency in or familiarity with a second language (preferred).
  • Knowledge of or interest in learning international student immigration regulations.
  • Strong computer skills in a PC/Windows environment, including word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), database management (Access), presentation software (PowerPoint), administrative computer systems (Banner), Internet and electronic mail.
  • Demonstrate organizational ability, attention to detail, and ability to perform multiple tasks and work efficiently in a busy office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.
Education Requirement:

Candidates interested in this role must be actively enrolled or incoming Rollins graduate students. Pending the hiring offer, new student employees (who have not worked at the college within the last two years) will need to complete new hire documents.
