Position Title (Classification Title): Communications Graduate Assistant, Graduate Assistant Working Title: Communications Graduate Assistant Job Summary: This position is open for a graduate student interested in gaining experience in communication or a closely related field.
Copywriting
Create engaging, clearly written content using different channels, such as website, print materials and others as appropriate
Collaboration
Collaborate with all Division of Academic Engagement and Student Affairs units to enhance their programs through communication
Administrative tasks
Assist in administrative duties. such as proofreading for accuracy and quality of work and project management
Project management
Manage and monitor projects to produce timely and effective materials for the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Affairs units
Assessment
Supervise the collection, organization and analysis of data as part of the unit's overall assessment plan
Support projects
Special projects or assignments based on the office's needs and the graduate student's interests
Other assigned tasks as needed Department Office of Design & Communications FLSA: Non-Exempt Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be a graduate student at the University of West Florida and pursuing work related to the student's graduate studies program. Position Qualifications: Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student in a UWF graduate program and maintain good academic standing.
Must register for, and complete 6 credits of coursework per semester (fall, spring, and summer) or be registered for thesis credit.
1-2 years of undergraduate or professional involvement in Student Affairs programming
Experience with APA-style writing
Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
Interest in a communication-related field
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while organizing work time and managing projects independently
Demonstrate excellent written communication
Proficient writing skills to produce clear, grammatically correct professional materials
Ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously while meeting required deadlines Physical Demands:
  • Physical Requirements: Occasional and/or light lifting required. Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely results would be cuts, bruises, etc.
