Overview

Electric Boat is preparing to execute a construction and test program for the COLUMBIA Class Integrated Propulsion Systems (IPS) at the IPS Compatibility Test Facility (CTF) in Philadelphia, PA. The IPS includes the propulsion plant (electric drive) and electrical power distribution system. Electric Boat has been tasked with outfitting the space to integrate and test the lead ship motor module. Following that program, the site will be used to test all subsequent COLUMBIA Class motor modules. Outfitting of the motor modules will occur at the Electric Boat Quonset Point facility as well as possible focus factories in the future. A pre-production integrated test program of prototypic equipment is in progress at the IPS CTF and on-going through the start of the motor module test program and beyond. The IPS CTF will additionally have the capability to test Electric Plant components independently during motor module testing.
The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 10-15 salaried employees responsible for: overall engineering support of the IPS CTF, ensuring the IPS CTF remains able to test prototypes and future technology upgrades, maintenance of IPS CTF integrated master schedules for prototypic equipment testing, possible IPS CTF future upgrades for classes other than COLUMBIA, ships force design school, and development of test documentation for prototypic and possibly shipboard equipment.
This role will require continual and direct involvement with the various Electric Boat Organizations, sub-vendors, Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD), Naval Sea System Command (NAVSEA), and the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL). The engineering supervisor must be able to assess and integrate vendor/supplier technical design and operational information including qualification test program, factory acceptance testing and technical manuals. This individual will also be responsible for issuing formal correspondence to external stakeholders (NNL, NAVSEA, NSWCPD) to support planning and test performance.

The Engineering Supervisor must demonstrate knowledge in the areas of submarine propulsion plant operations, power generation, electronic controls and/or power distribution systems operation. As previously stated, frequent interface with NSWCPD, NNL, and NAVSEA personnel is required. Occasional travel may be required (once a month or more).
