Pay

This position is a salary position at pay grade 219.

Attendance

Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The IT Project Management Office Manager is responsible for leading and mentoring a team of professionals in completing projects to uphold business initiatives. They will provide technical project management to deliver projects of various scale, form, and duration in-line with business requirements. Over the course of a project, the IT PMO Manager will communicate with staff and clients, make decisions, monitor the progress of the project to keep it on schedule, deliver a high-quality service, and fulfill the mission of the department.

Responsibilities

• Provides oversight for operations to the Project Management Office, to include administrative support, payroll, timekeeping, travel, procurement processes, budget processes, department metrics, benchmarks, open records requests and e-discovery requests

• Works closely with department managers in achieving operational goals

• Instructs, manages, directs, and motivates staff to meet departmental goals

• Prepares and recommends departmental strategy to include policies and procedures

• Acts as a leader for the organization

• Prepares presentations, provides timely status reports, and monitors assigned budget

• Works closely with peers and ensures that work assignments are for the betterment of the team to meet departmental goals and mission

• Creates long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines

• Delegates tasks on the project to employees best positioned to complete them

• Makes effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project

• Communicates with executives to keep the project aligned with their goals

• Performs quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected

• Adjusts schedules and targets on the projects as needed

• Works closely with customers, analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the design of quality technical solutions

• Aligns solutions with business and IT Strategies that comply with the organization's standards

• Maintains knowledge, skills, and adaptability by keeping required licenses and relevant certifications current

• Prioritizes tasks, assignments, and projects; additional duties include documentation and reporting, customer interface, communication and follow up, and the timely resolution of tasks and issues as assigned

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)

• Minimum of four (4) years of experience

• A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered

• Must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background check

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
