This National Guard position is a Indefinite with Right to Convert GS-2210-11 IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2476000 and is part of the MO G2 Intelligence Directorate. This is a non-bargaining position.

Clarification from the agency

WHO MAY APPLY: All qualified permanent, indefinite and temporary Title 5 and Title 32 National Guard employees who are currently working for the DCS G2 Info Management HQ Directorate in Missouri.

Duties

  • Provides remote and on-site field technical support services.
  • Provides advice and guidance on implementing automation in support of intelligence production.
  • Facilitates user and administrator access to Army Intelligence networks and tactical MI systems.
  • Maintains all necessary administrator and user accounts, clearance, privileges, and training to perform maintenance on Army Military Intelligence systems.
  • Coordinates the receipt of periodic system security and software updates to subordinate units.
  • Manages the MI maintenance programs and use of MI equipment within designated facilities throughout the organization.
  • Coordinates MI system support events and personnel as needed for organization and subordinate unit system maintenance.
  • Executes established processes to coordinate with appropriate offices on the correction of identified deficiencies.
  • Coordinates with appropriate intelligence organizations and units for applicable system and user specific training.
  • Provides guidance and advice to the Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO) for career management of MI system maintainer/integrators.
  • Coordinates and tracks MI system fielding, training, and modernization initiatives.
  • Ensures subordinate units enter major training events and mobilizations with latest available software and technologies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.
  • Employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice.
  • In the event a permanent (Tenure 1 or 2) employee is selected, and is willing to accept the indefinite appointment, that employee will relinquish permanent status.
  • Management has the right to convert this position to permanent status without re-advertising.
  • Must obtain Global Combat Support System - Army (GCSS-A) Maintenance Supervisor access within 24 months of hire.
  • Must attend the ARNG Security Manager Course within 12 months of hire.
  • Obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 24 months of hire.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a top secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent must complete appropriate training and obtain required certifications IAW DoDI 8140, DOD 8570.01M or applicable governing document(s) for Cyber workforce as an IA Technician Level.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).

Warrant Officer - Branch 53; MOS 25A, 255A, 255N or 255S Enlisted - CMF 25

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience that provided you basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enable you to understand the stages required to automate a work process; experience in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.

GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 36 months specialized computer experience in troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving systems to solve complex problems and provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers; and knowledge of systems development, modification, testing, installation, operations, and maintenance methods as well as the organization's network and communications architecture and protocols to provide support related to testing, evaluating, installing, configuring and modifying hardware and software for operating systems. The specialized experience must demonstrate your ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot LAN and WAN components such as routers, hubs, switches, and servers.

DOD Information Awareness Certification Requirements:

The employee must obtain and maintain at a minimum a TOP Secret security clearance.

Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain certifications per DoD Directive 8570.1-M, AR 25-2, and as detailed in the Information Assurance (IA) Training and Certification Best Business Practice (BBP). Failure to satisfactorily obtain and maintain required certifications in accordance with the listed publications are grounds for termination.

Selectee is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005 (incorporating Change 1 dated 15 May 2008).

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience at the GS-11 grade level: Must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent, or three years of progressively higher level graduate education in computer science, engineering, information science, or information systems management leading to such a degree.
