The Department of Student Health and Wellness (SHW) helps students reach their full potential by optimizing their health and well-being during their time at the University of Virginia and beyond. We are seeking an IT Support Analyst to provide consultative and technical support to faculty, staff, and students, ensuring timely problem resolution, system/data access, and optimal system performance. This role supports desktop, mobile computing, and client/server technology. IT Support Analysts have advanced technical skills, the capacity to handle complex tasks independently, ability to interact with fellow team members, clients, and external vendors, contributing to the achievement of team and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to the university community to resolve first and second-tier common desktop software, hardware, and communication issues efficiently and promptly. Accurately document request history and triage and route advanced second and third-tier requests to the appropriate technical personnel.
  • Collaboration: Maintain strong working relationships with IT professionals in areas such as network services, software systems engineering, and application development to ensure timely issue resolution or escalation on behalf of users.
  • System Upgrades and Deployment: Perform system upgrades and new system deployments as needed.
  • User Training: Provide basic application and system training for users to enhance their proficiency.
  • Process Development: Assist in developing standard operating procedures and customer service guidelines. May assist with hardware and software evaluation.
  • Secure Computing: Follow proper procedures related to secure computing, account maintenance, and purchasing. Maintain accurate documentation to support these efforts.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the IT department's objectives.
Compensation and Benefits:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and is expected to be $29.00-31.25/hour. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check and health and drug screen. This is a nonexempt-level position with UVa benefits. Qualifications:
  • Education: High School degree or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience in a similar role with strong technical support skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with desktop, mobile computing, and client/server technology.
  • Experience with Office365 is a plus
Physical Demands:

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
